Survive using low bandwidth

Hmm... I haven't been posting any blog for a long time. Basically there are three reasons stopping me from writing a blog. a. I am lazy as usual b. I am on vacation in HK right now and I want to do more exciting things than writing a blog c. I only have dial up connection in HK. It is hard to believe that I am still able to use internet with a 56K modem! In 1998, I had made the switch from from 28k dial up modem to Telus 1.5Mbps ADSL. (Note that 28k modem means 28,000 bits per second and 1.5Mbps means 1,500,000 bits per second) Back then, ADSL to me was extremely fast, and I was very please to make the switch. In HK , due to a number of reasons, my dad decided not to install high speed internet and go for dial up solution. Yes, it is extremely slow and I couldn't do much other than checking my email. In fact, believe me, it does take awhile to load the Gmail webpage (about 3 minutes). Lucky I did turn on the cache opinion. The functionalities of email website such as Gmail an

Stupid T*lus Network

Ok, I don't have to mention the company's name! Anyways, after switching from the stable Cisco network to their primary network, my internet Gateway has to be refresh for pretty much every day. It is so unstable and incovinent, especially most of the interactive websites using "send" and "response" mechanism. For example, if you click send email, and then your internet need to refresh its IP, you will lose your "email is sent" response. Well, at least my router has the option "renew forever", but still... so annoying. Oh well, I have 9 more month before my contract end, I will pay for more stable network. My next choice I want to try is Shaw and 3Web.

Casio Pro Trek Battery Replace

Summer time again, and I am about to head to Banff for some extreme biking riding. I remember that I have a watch Casio Pro Trek model PRT 40 that I brought in 1998 and I want to use it because the watch has: 1. digit compass 2. Altimeter 3. Thermometer It will be cool to see how elavation I ride up the on the Rocky Montian. However, I needed to replace the battery. I rememer that there are 2 batteries in my watch. I "assumed" that one of the battery (which has a red cover) is for maintaining the data while the other one is for display, so I decided just to get buy one for now, and I will get new battery when I go back to HK (i.e. it is very cheap to get battery in HK's Women Market) Tonight, I went to SuperStore, brought a button battery model 395 and I try to replace the battery. I remembered that once the battery is replace, I have to do a special procedue to restart the watch by contacting the negative of the battery to somewhere inside the watch. Damn, I forgot whic

Migraine Suffering (Recent study)

Guess what, my migraine started in the morning, and I missed my work in the moring. I was luckly enough that my vomitting didn't come until an hour later I took the Advil migraine pill. The End of My Jacket

Today, after successfully implemented a code snippet which can logically draw out colored path using .NET component designer, I put on my jacket, plug my Sony MDR-EX815SL headphone to my ears, which is connected to my Creative ZEN Vision:M and left work to catch my bus. The weather was warm and the sky was gorgeous as I walk down the street. I took off my jacket and hang it on top of my shoulder bag. As I stopped at the end of the cross walk, I saw my bus 17 which was about to turn and stop at a bus station about a block ahead of me. I walked pass the cross walk and tried to fix my headphone position in my ear, I heard some car honked at me, or possibly at another person. I looked back but didn't notice anything, so I continued walk across the street. As I about to reach to the bus station, where bus 17 waiting for me, I noticed something was wrong... WHERE IS MY JACKET ... I bet it fell off, should I miss my bus and get my jacket? Of course I would! I quickly walk back to the cr
