Casio Pro Trek Battery Replace

Summer time again, and I am about to head to Banff for some extreme biking riding. I remember that I have a watch Casio Pro Trek model PRT 40 that I brought in 1998 and I want to use it because the watch has:

1. digit compass
2. Altimeter
3. Thermometer

It will be cool to see how elavation I ride up the on the Rocky Montian. However, I needed to replace the battery. I rememer that there are 2 batteries in my watch.

I "assumed" that one of the battery (which has a red cover) is for maintaining the data while the other one is for display, so I decided just to get buy one for now, and I will get new battery when I go back to HK (i.e. it is very cheap to get battery in HK's Women Market)

Tonight, I went to SuperStore, brought a button battery model 395 and I try to replace the battery. I remembered that once the battery is replace, I have to do a special procedue to restart the watch by contacting the negative of the battery to somewhere inside the watch.

Damn, I forgot which contact I need to make. After an hour of trying, I still couldn't find the spot that I need to make contact. As I get more and more frustrated, blaming myself why I can't remember it, I keep search for on the web for solution.

FINALY, find it, I replace one of the battery, made the contact and then my watch start workign again. Feeling relief, I try out the compress..

BAT

Damn, why do I have BATtrey problem???? So, in an desprate attempt, I swap the 2 batteries in the watch and hopping to get the sensor to work (assuming that the other battery is for battery purpose). I restarted it, try again...

BAT again!

Looks like I need to replace BOTH battery... bad assumption that I made by being cheap not to get 2 batteries (I was about to get 2 395 batteries at the SuperStore's checkout counter, but I chicken out.

Oh well, looks like I have to get the other battery tomorrow!

Restarting the watch.
1. Unscrew your watch
2. Unbuckle both batteries lock compartments
3. Replace BOTH battery
4. Put the buckles back on to lock the batteries
5. use a metal conducting wire or metal paper clip
6. contact the negative of the battery with the gold metal dot that mark with a very very small word "AC" for about 2 sec
7. your watch will restart!

someone made a note on restart the Pro Trek watch. For those who actually read this blog and need to restart your Pro Trek after replacing your battery, here is how to do it.
